Garda Trentino is a very varied area: from the shores of Lake Garda, with their Mediterranean climate, up to the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites, with their majestic alpine landscape. By taking part in AutoStop you are helping us to preserve this extraordinary wealth, which we have chosen to represent here with four characteristic trees from the area, authentic green symbols of Garda Trentino.
It would be hard to imagine Upper Garda without the grey-green foliage of the olive trees that have been grown here for centuries. A tradition dating back to Roman times, with extra virgin olive oil being the “green gold” of Garda Trentino since then.
Today, this tree is not so widespread, but without the larch, the history of Valle di Ledro would not be the same. Larch wood was used by people in the Bronze Age to build their houses: a whole pile-dwelling village built on over 10 thousand tree trunks.
In Bleggio, the walnut dates back to Roman times, when it was cultivated with care because it represented an important source of wealth for the families in the area. Today, walnuts from Bleggio are considered a particularly tasty Slow Food product.
We mean a particular grape variety that only grows here. It is the Nosiola, which is used to make the white wine of the same name, but which is used above all, dried, to make Vino Santo Trentino DOC, the pride of the Valle dei Laghi and all of Garda Trentino.
